The ZaVox Speech Amplifier is a
small portable aid that is worn on the body. It is useful for
people who have quiet speech. The ZaVox amplifies the speech.
Only outgoing breath, such as a whisper, is necessary to enable
to ZaVox to provide amplification.
- Amplify quiet or weak voices
- Help prevent vocal abuse
Anyone who has a very quiet or
weak voice may be an appropriate user of the ZaVox. The volume
of speech is amplified through the ZaVox with no change to clarity.
A Speech Pathologist should be consulted to determine suitability.
The ZaVox is also used
by people who need to talk for long periods or raise their voices
for specific activities. We know of classroom teachers who use
the ZaVox to prevent vocal abuse caused by straining the voice.
Others who are currently finding
the ZaVox useful are people with Parkinson's Disease and Motor
Neurone Disease conditions in which the voice may become
inaudible. The volume of speech may be reduced by a range of
conditions and the ZaVox can be used to amplify speech regardless
of the cause.
The ZaVox amplifier measures
4.5" x 2.75" x 1.25" (114 x 70 x 32 mm), and weighs
7.8 oz. (221 gms). It can be worn around the waist on your own
belt or the belt supplied. It is powered by a 9V battery. A choice
of microphone locations can be used but better results are achieved
with a microphone closest to the mouth. One push-button controls
ON/OFF, two push-buttons control the output volume. Output is
one watt. The speaker cone is of durable polyester.
The ZaVox can be ordered with
the headset microphone or the lapel microphone or both. Each
