 1. How do I store direct memories?

  • Type in the message you like to store. e.g. "I am happy."
  • Press Mem + Mem, then choose a letter or number that you would like to store it under. (For example choose the letter I to associate with this message.) When asked to save it, press Y.
  • Press On/C to clear it. To replay the message, press Mem then the letter or number you chose to save it under. Now pressing Mem and I will read "I am happy."

 

 2. How do I store Abbreviation-Expansions?

  • Type the abbreviation (two or more letters) followed by an equal sign (=) and then the message. There may not be any spaces in the abbreviation or on either side of the equal sign (=). For example, MJ=My name is Joey.
  • Press Mem + Mem + the plus sign (+) to save it.
  • Press Y to OK it.
  • Now typing MJ will read, "My name is Joey."

 

 3. How do I select another voice?

  • You need to get into the Setups of the LightWRITER. Press Mem and then the Replay key.
  • Press the period key (.) to scroll through the Setup headings.
  • Pressing the SPACE key will scroll through different sub heading. Press it until you have reached the Voice sub heading.
  • Press the plus key (+) to scroll through the available voices. Choose the voice you like.
  • Press the On/C key to leave Setups with your current voice selection saved.

 

 4. My LightWRITER is not working!

  • Does your LightWRITER work with the charger connected? If it does, then it may need a battery replacement.
  • Does the green light come on when the charger is plugged into the LightWRITER? If not, have you tried another outlet known to be working? If it still doesn't work, it's possible that you need a new charger. Contact ZYGO for more information.
  • If the green light comes on when the charger is plugged into the LightWRITER, but it still doesn't work, try to reset the unit. You can accomplish this by pressing the OFF key for 20 seconds. Resetting prompt will show on your display, followed by other checks that the system is going through. When the greater-than sign (>) shows on the display, try to see if your unit is working.

 

 5. My LightWRITER does not appear to be working properly?

  • To reset the LightWRITER to factory defaults, press Mem + Mem + Mem + L + 0 (number zero). Answer Y when you're asked.
  • The reset procedure will not effect stored messages. However, all the different parameters that you may have set previously, need to be reset.

 

 6. My keys require a lot of force before they will type?

  • Is the same amount of force required for all keys? If that's the case, then check the level of Tremor in the Setups. Press Mem and then the replay key.
  • Press the period key (.) to go to all of the main Setup headings.
  • Pressing the Space key will scroll through different sub-headings. Press it until you have reached the Keyboard sub-heading.
  • Press the plus key (+) to scroll through the available Keyboard options. Tremor is one of those options. Set it to None if the user doesn't need it.
  • Press the On/C key to leave Setups with your current options saved.
  • If some keys require more force than others, your keyboard may need to be replaced.

 

 7. Why the Scan Module attached to my LightWRITER is not working?

Attach the Scan Module to the LightWRITER to Port1 or Port2 if available. To set the port settings properly, follow these simple steps:

  • Press the On/C key to turn the unit on.
  • Press Mem and the Replay button to get to the User Setups.
  • Press the "P" key repeatedly until the display shows the port number that you have attached the Scan Module to.
  • Repeatedly press the "+" key to set the Port to Scanner. For example the display will now read "Port 2: Scanner".
  • Now press the On/C button to finish the setup process and clear the display.
  • Plug a Switch into the Scan 1 jack located on the side of the LightWRITER.
  • Activate the switch by pressing it. Activating the Switch will turn the scanner on.
